Kalpavriksham Trust – Weekly Event Summary ( 18th May to 24th May 2026)

At Kalpavriksham Trust, our mission of "Solving Cancer Crisis" continues through dedicated community outreach, education, and preventive healthcare initiatives. During Week #20 (18th – 24th May 2026), we successfully organized four cancer awareness programs under Project Shakthi, reaching 91 beneficiaries across Chennai and Thiruninravur.

Why Cancer Awareness Matters

Cancer remains one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide, but early detection and timely intervention can significantly improve treatment outcomes and survival rates. Through awareness programs, communities gain essential knowledge about:

Week #20 Event Highlights

1. Cancer Awareness Talk at Susheelamma Old Age Home, Thiruninravur

The week commenced with an awareness session at Susheelamma Old Age Home, Ponniammanmedu, Thiruninravur. Elderly participants were educated about common cancer symptoms, the importance of regular health check-ups, and the role of early detection in improving outcomes. Interactive discussions helped address concerns and encourage proactive health-seeking behavior.

2. Community Awareness Session at Ponniammanmedu, Thiruninravur

A focused community awareness program was conducted at Kosavan Palayam, Ponniammanmedu, Thiruninravur. Participants received information on preventive measures, cancer screening recommendations, and lifestyle modifications that contribute to reducing cancer risks.

3. Women's Cancer Awareness Program at Rukmani Nagar

Date: 18th May 2026

Beneficiaries Reached: 14

At Rukmani Nagar, Ponniammanmedu, women from the community participated in an educational session emphasizing:

  • Breast cancer awareness and self-breast examination techniques
  • Cervical cancer prevention strategies
  • The significance of routine screenings and HPV vaccination
  • The importance of seeking medical advice when symptoms arise

The program encouraged women to prioritize their health and advocate for preventive care within their families.

4. Cancer Awareness Talk at Sevalaya Mahakavi Bharathiyar Community College

Date: 20th May 2026
Project: Project Shakthi
Beneficiaries Reached: 30

The final event of the week was conducted at Sevalaya Mahakavi Bharathiyar Community College, Ambattur, engaging students and young adults in discussions about cancer prevention and healthy living. The session highlighted:

  • Lifestyle choices that lower cancer risk
  • Tobacco cessation and its impact on cancer prevention
  • The value of early screening and regular health check-ups
  • The importance of spreading awareness within communities

Educating young individuals creates a ripple effect, enabling them to become ambassadors of health awareness in society.
