Kalpavriksham Trust – Weekly Event Summary (06th April to 12th April 2026)

Date :14-Apr-2026

At Kalpavriksham Trust, every week is a step forward in the mission to fight cancer through awareness, early detection, and community outreach. Our Week #14 activities, conducted between April 6th and April 12th, 2026, reflect our continued commitment to reaching underserved communities and empowering individuals with life-saving knowledge.

A Snapshot of Impact

During this week, we successfully conducted 3 impactful events, reaching a total of 83 beneficiaries across Chennai and Thiruvallur districts. Each initiative focused on creating awareness and enabling access to early screening-two of the most powerful tools in the fight against cancer.

Event Highlights

1. Cancer Screening Camp - Akshaya Old Age Home, Chennai

On April 10th, a Cancer Screening Camp was organized under our flagship Femicare+ Project at Akshaya Old Age Home, Valasaravakkam.

  • Beneficiaries: 24 individuals
  • Screening Conducted: 23 iBreast examinations

This camp was particularly meaningful as it focused on elderly residents, a group often overlooked when it comes to preventive healthcare. The session emphasized the importance of regular screening and early detection, especially in aging populations.

2. Cancer Awareness Talk - Veerakuttai Village, Thiruvallur

On April 11th, under Project Shakthi, we conducted an awareness session in Veerakuttai Village, Thiruvalur.

  • Participants: 37 individuals

The session covered key topics such as:

  • Early warning signs of cancer
  • Importance of timely screening
  • Lifestyle changes to reduce cancer risk

Community members actively participated, asking questions and engaging in meaningful discussions about their health.

3. Cancer Awareness Talk - Sevvapet, Thiruvallur

Later the same day, another awareness session was held in Sevvapet.

  • Participants: 22 individuals

This session reinforced the importance of:

  • Self-breast examination
  • Regular health check-ups
  • Breaking myths and stigma around cancer

The outreach ensured that even remote communities received accurate, accessible health information.

Why These Efforts Matter

Cancer continues to be a growing public health concern, but early detection can significantly improve survival rates. Through consistent awareness programs and screening camps, we aim to:

  • Reduce late-stage cancer diagnoses
  • Encourage preventive healthcare practices
  • Empower individuals, especially women, to take charge of their health

Our initiatives are not just events-they are lifelines of awareness, care, and hope.

Community at the Heart of Change

What stood out this week was the strong community participation. From elderly residents in care homes to women in rural villages, the willingness to learn and prioritize health is inspiring.

These interactions remind us that awareness is the first step toward prevention, and every conversation has the power to save lives.
