Weekly Impact Report: Empowering Communities Through Cancer Awareness & Screening (Week #12)

In its continued mission to combat cancer through awareness, early detection, and community outreach, Kalpavriksham Trust successfully conducted a series of impactful initiatives during the week of March 23rd to March 29th, 2026.

With a strong focus on education and preventive healthcare, the Trust reached 258 beneficiaries across 4 key events, reinforcing the message that prevention truly saves lives.

Driving Awareness Through Project Shakthi

As part of Project Shakthi, multiple cancer awareness sessions were conducted across Chennai and Thiruvallur, targeting diverse groups and communities.

  • March 23 – Billroth College, Maduravoyal, Chennai
A session attended by 50 participants, focusing on early detection, symptoms, and the importance of regular screenings.
  • March 25 – VPC Building, Putlur, Thiruvallur
45 women participants were educated on breast and cervical cancer prevention, emphasizing mammograms and Pap smear tests.
  • March 27 – Old Colony, Ayalur Village, Thiruvallur
A grassroots-level awareness talk reached 26 individuals, spreading vital knowledge in a rural setting.
  • March 27 – Ford Pvt. Ltd., Sholinganallur
A large-scale corporate session engaged 90 participants, promoting a health-conscious workplace and preventive practices.

These sessions not only raised awareness but also empowered individuals with actionable knowledge to take control of their health.

Advancing Preventive Care with Project Femicare+

On March 28, under Project Femicare+, a Cancer Screening Camp was conducted at AVT Nandambakkam, Chennai, benefiting 47 individuals.

The camp provided essential screening services, including:

  • Mammograms for early detection of breast cancer
  • Pap smear tests for cervical cancer screening

This initiative ensured that individuals—especially from underserved communities-had access to critical diagnostic services that can lead to early intervention and better outcomes.

Strengthening the Fight Against Cancer

Each event conducted during the week reflects a larger vision: creating a society where cancer is detected early, treated effectively, and, wherever possible, prevented altogether.

Through:

  • Community engagement
  • Workplace awareness programs
  • Accessible screening services

Kalpavriksham Trust continues to bridge the gap between knowledge and healthcare access.

The Way Forward

The impact of Week #12 is a testament to the power of consistent outreach and collaborative efforts. However, the journey doesn’t stop here. Continued awareness, regular screenings, and community participation are key to reducing the burden of cancer.

Together, we can build a healthier future-one informed individual at a time.
