The first week of October marked yet another milestone in Kalpavriksham Trust’s journey toward building a healthier, cancer-aware society. From walkathons to screening camps and awareness talks, the Trust continued its mission of spreading hope, education, and preventive healthcare across Chennai and nearby regions.
1. Walkathon for Health and Hope – 29th September 2025
The week began with an energetic Walkathon at Padma Sarangapani School, Virugambakkam, where 100 enthusiastic participants joined hands to promote fitness and cancer awareness. The event aimed to inspire students and the community to embrace a healthy lifestyle as a preventive measure against cancer and other diseases.
Under Project Femicare+, a free cancer screening camp was conducted at AABLA, Anna Nagar.
30 women benefited from health consultations and check-ups.
3 free Pap smear tests were provided to promote early detection of cervical cancer.
The initiative emphasized the importance of routine screenings and early diagnosis for saving lives.
Continuing the momentum, Project Shakthi organized an awareness talk at ALF Magalir Kuzhu, West Mambalam, reaching 44 women. The session focused on breast and cervical cancer awareness, preventive measures, and the significance of regular self-examinations and screenings. The talk encouraged participants to share the knowledge within their communities, fostering peer education.
At Udhavum Nanbargal Samudhaya Maruthuva Mayyam, Alathur Village, Kalpavriksham Trust held a dual initiative—a screening camp under Project Femicare+ and an awareness talk under Project Shakthi.
The camp benefited 43 women, including 11 free Pap smear tests, ensuring access to preventive care in rural areas.
The awareness session reached 25 women, empowering them with knowledge about symptoms, lifestyle choices, and cancer prevention.
