38 people from Irumbedu came forward to take a proactive step towards protecting their health through early cancer screening.
At the Project Sunkalp cancer screening camp held at Irumbedu PHC, Madurantakam, both women and men from the community participated:
32 clinical breast examinations
35 oral cancer examinations
The camp brought together 35 women and 3 men, reinforcing an important message: cancer awareness and early detection are important for everyone.
Cancer does not always show obvious symptoms in its early stages. Regular screening can help identify suspicious changes sooner, giving individuals the opportunity to seek timely medical attention when treatment can be more effective.
For many people in rural communities, accessing specialised healthcare can be challenging due to distance, cost, and limited awareness. By bringing screening services closer to communities through local healthcare facilities, Project Sunkalp is helping make preventive healthcare more accessible.
Every person who comes forward for screening takes a meaningful step towards understanding and protecting their health. Every camp also creates an opportunity to spread awareness among families and encourage others to prioritise regular health check-ups.
Through Project Sunkalp, Kalpavriksham Trust continues to work with PHCs, local communities, healthcare professionals, and CSR partners to expand access to cancer screening across Madurantakam.
