19 people from Madurantakam came forward to take an important step towards protecting their health through early cancer screening.
At the Project Sunkalp cancer screening camp held at Madurantakam Town PHC, both women and men from the community participated:
14 clinical breast examinations
19 oral cancer examinations
6 Pap smear screenings
The camp brought together 15 women and 4 men, highlighting an important message: cancer awareness and early detection are essential for everyone.
Breast, cervical, and oral cancers can develop silently, without obvious symptoms in their early stages. Regular screening can help identify suspicious changes earlier, giving individuals the opportunity to seek timely medical attention and improve their chances of better outcomes.
For many communities, accessing specialised healthcare can be challenging due to distance, cost, time, or limited awareness. By bringing screening services closer to people through local healthcare facilities, Project Sunkalp is helping make preventive healthcare more accessible.
Every person who comes forward for screening is taking a proactive step towards understanding and protecting their health. These camps also create opportunities to spread awareness among families and encourage communities to make regular screening a part of preventive healthcare.
Through Project Sunkalp, Kalpavriksham Trust continues to work with PHCs, panchayats, local communities, healthcare professionals, and CSR partners to expand access to cancer screening across Madurantakam.
