Sometimes, taking the time to get screened can be the first step towards understanding and protecting your health.
As part of Project Sunkalp, a cancer screening camp was conducted at Vadakku Vayanallur PHC, Cheyyur, Chengalpattu District, bringing preventive healthcare and early detection services closer to the community.
A total of 43 beneficiaries participated in the screening, including 13 men and 30 women.
The camp provided:
• 26 iBreast Examinations
• 43 Oral Examinations
• 6 Pap Smear Tests
During the screening, one gynaecological screening finding was identified for further medical evaluation and follow-up. A screening finding does not by itself confirm a cancer diagnosis, which is why timely medical consultation and appropriate follow-up are important.
Cancer may not always show noticeable warning signs in its early stages. Regular screening can help identify suspicious changes earlier and encourage individuals to seek timely medical attention.
For many communities, accessing specialised healthcare can be challenging due to distance, cost, time, or limited awareness. Project Sunkalp works to bridge this gap by bringing screening services closer to people through local healthcare facilities and community-based camps.
Every person who comes forward for screening takes a proactive step towards their health. These camps also help create awareness about prevention, early detection, regular screening, and the importance of following up on any abnormal screening findings.
Through Project Sunkalp, Kalpavriksham Trust continues to work with PHCs, local communities, healthcare professionals, and CSR partners to expand access to cancer screening across the region.
